Forest Bee with Swap and Cuppa – Sat 25 May 2019 am

Dear All,
planting season has started again, so we will plant some bushes and start on green leafy vegetables.
Learn about some edible weeds (while you weed) and learn about pruning (while we do some of that),
and like always, get together with other interested gardeners and improve our neighbourhood (and future food security).

…the morning will include hot cups of tea or coffee and a surplus-swap. It’s a good chance to meet the people and swap things you don’t want.

You will work with others, learn things, harvest some food or plants to take home.

New volunteers will get an induction at the start.

All welcome!
Looking forward to it
cheers, Petra.

tree planting November 2012

Growing a humming garden with lots of produce, summer shade and flowers is very satisfying and important for the environment.

Petra will show you how to create or improve a productive garden using minimum water and effort.

Learn how to “drought-proof” your garden as much as possible. You will see what works in our food forest and we will look at little tricks like passive watering (don’t lift a finger once installed!), and getting the most out of your additives like manure, compost, bio-char – natural enhancements, chemical free.

You will go home with a list of possible actions you can easily do at home.

Presenter: Petra Kahle convenes the Food Forest Ashburton Group which looks after the food forest lovingly and thoughtfully. She is the author of the booklet Menu for Good Housekeeping and Planet Care.

For the Kids: Water games and messy mud play, as well as making and serving lemonade.

Also: Coffee, cake and home-grown herbal teas, dips & biscuits will be made and served by the local CWA Ashburton for you.

Food Forest Gardening Bee, Swap & Morning tea

Saturday 23 March 2019      9am – 12noon

Dear All,
the morning will start with morning tea and surplus swap.
It’s a good chance to meet the people and swap things you don’t want anymore.

Then we will “forest” (the trees are 6 and 2 years old):
some plants have made too many babies –
we will take them out and pot them up to sell at the events we have planned this year.
Some pruning needs doing,
some deep watering.

You will work with others, learn things, harvest some food or plants.

New volunteers will get an induction to start with.

All welcome!
Looking forward to it
cheers, Petra.
